Getting to Florence

By Plane

The International Florence Airport “Amerigo Vespucci” (IATA code – FLR) is located only 4 km away from the city centre and can be easily reached by taxi or with the ‘Vola in bus’ shuttle service, which connects the airport to the main railway station, Santa Maria Novella Station, in just 15-20 minutes.

Thanks to the connections with Rome Fiumicino Airport, Milan Malpensa and the main European capitals, Florence is easily reachable from the rest of the world: you can decide to rent a car from one of the major rental car companies inside the airport or you can reach Florence by train choosing from one of the many high-speed and regional operators.

The International Airport of Pisa “Galileo Galilei” (IATA code- PSA) is located 80 km from the city centre of Florence and is connected to the Tuscan capital by train (every hour) and by bus (full flight coverage with 18 journeys per day).

The International Airport of Bologna “Guglielmo Marconi” (IATA code – BLQ) is located 100 km away from Florence. You can catch the “Appenino Shuttle” directly from the airport to the Florence city centre, or you can take a 25-minute fast train to Florence from Bologna’s central railway station.

By Train

Florence’s main railway station, Santa Maria Novella, is located five minutes by foot from the entrance of the congress centre Fortezza da Basso. The other two railway stations, Rifredi and Campo di Marte, are at a ten-minute driving distance from the Santa Maria Novella Station, or connected to it through local trains and city buses. The high-speed trains Freccia Rossa and Freccia Argento connect Florence with Rome in 1 hour and 30 minutes, Milan in 1 hour and 40 minutes, Venice in 2 hours, Turin in 3 hour and 30 minutes.

You can check the travel schedule on both Trenitalia and Italo websites.

By Car

Florence is well connected with the main Italian cities, thanks to the Italian motorway network, thus making it easy to get to the city centre, where the congress venue is located.

Parking Information

There are several paid parking areas near the Conference Centre. The closest parking ramps are located under the Central Railway Station and under Fortezza da Basso (congress venue).
