Congress Venue
Fortezza da Basso
Viale Strozzi 1
50129 Florence, Italy
A unique location in the heart of Florence and a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, the Fortezza da Basso was designed by Antonio da Sangallo il Giovane and commissioned by Alessandro de’ Medici, the first Duke of Florence. It was built between 1534 and 1536 and has been the main Congress & Exhibition Centre venue in Florence and central Italy since 1967.
This venue combines perfectly restored historic locations, such as the Area Monumentale, the Teatrino Lorenese and the Polveriera, with modern pavilions such as the Spadolini Pavilion and the Cavaniglia Pavilion, opened in 1996, offering a truly unique panorama with 16th-century walls on one side of the architectural complex.
All restorations of this historic venue have been carried out with the utmost respect to the location’s history and to the requirements of modern day event organization and exhibitions.
Access for individuals with reduced mobility is guaranteed within all the public areas of the venue.
